PRACTICE: 2:30 p.m. — 4:30 p.m., is the last practice before the Lions game Saturday.
WHAT HAPPENED: The Browns worked in shorts and focused on going against Detroit’s schemes. For the second straight day the defense played with an edge, hitting a little harder and knocking more offensive guys down.
BRADY UPDATE: Brady Quinn continued to look like a rookie. He was picked off by linebacker Clifton Smith in a passing drill and by cornerback Brandon McDonald in a team drill and was late with a couple of other throws. Quinn made some nice throws, too, and continues to show zip on his passes.
TEMPER, TEMPER: Reserve nose tackle J’Vonne Parker threw a couple of punches to the midsection of starting right tackle Kevin Shaffer during a scuffle.
SITTING OUT: Linebacker Andra Davis (ankle) and cornerback Leigh Bodden (ankle) didn’t practice.
BACK IN ACTION: Receiver Tim Carter (thumb) returned to team drills, as did safety Justin Sandy (leg). Cornerback DeMario Minter (foot) did some individual work for the second straight day.
CAMPER OF THE DAY: Derek Anderson took advantage of the repetitions against the scout-team defense and showed off his big arm. He hit Edwards on a deep cross and a fly and also got the ball to Jurevicius and Travis Wilson.
PLAY OF THE DAY: On the first play of 11-on-11s, Edwards got behind cornerback Therrian Fontenot and Sandy, both reserves.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: “If we stay healthy, teams gotta watch out.” — tight end Kellen Winslow.
