The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Lloyd P. McIntire, 93, died Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin, after a short illness. He was born July 9, 1914, in Fairbury, IL. He lived in Oberlin for 60 years. He worked as a Division Manager for Columbia Gas of Ohio for 43 years and retired in 1978. Lloyd was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oberlin, The Oberlin Rotary Club where he served as President in 1984-1985 and received his Paul Harris Fellowship in 1989. He was a former member of Lorain and Elyria Rotary Clubs, Elks Lodge #465 of Elyria, member of the Firelands Council of Boy Scouts where he received the Silver Beaver Award, past President of the Blue Coats of Lorain County, American Legion Post # 102 of Oberlin, VFW Post #1079 of Elyria, Elyria Chamber of Commerce where he served on the board, Lorain Chamber of Commerce where he was President and served on the Board, Past President of Lorain Round Table, Past President of Gasco Club, Board of Directors of Central Trust in Lorain, A.A.R.P., Oberlin Senior Fellowship, former member of Oberlin Golf Club, and worked on several United Appeal Drives, and during WW II, being an Army Veteran, he fought the Iwo Jima Campaign overseas. He enjoyed golf, playing cards, dancing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alberta McIntire; daughters, Connie Stephens of LaGrange and Barbara McIntire of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Alberta Sanders, of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nellie McIntire; brothers, William and Glenn McIntire; sisters, Miriam Johnston, Velda Butler, Pearl McIntire and Mildred McIntire.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 19, 2007, from 2 to 5 P.M. at Cowling Funeral Home, 228 South Main St., Oberlin. Funeral Services will be Monday, August 20, 2007 at 11 A.M at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert Hooker will officiate. Interment will be at Westwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Oberlin, 45 S. Professor St., Oberlin, OH 44074, or to a donor’s choice.
