The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Sue Peoples

Sue Peoples, 65, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital after a three and one-half month battle with respiratory complications.

She was born in Oberlin and raised in Wellington, where she was a majorette and homecoming queen.

After graduating from Ohio State, Sue moved to Modesto, Calif., she taught there for several years. She then moved to Fresno, Calif. where she finished up her 31-year teaching career. Most of those years were spent as a kindergarten teacher.

Sue and her husband, Wayne, were married in 1997 and moved to Los Osos, Calif., in 1999. There she became a very active member in the Estero Bay Newcomers Club. She participated in activity groups including golf, bridge, Stitch and Bitch, shopping, gardening and The Dinner Club.

Sue hit a long golf ball, was proficient at crossword puzzles and had an overwhelming zest for life. There wasn’t a day that she didn’t wake up with a smile and a spring in her step.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne of Los Osos; brother, Keith (Jean) Thornton of Akron; sister, Lola (David) Wagenvoord of Clearwater, Fla., June Indenbeisen of Mount Gilead, Kathy (Bob) Wacker of Marysville, Kelly (Keith) Urban of Hillard; brother-in-law, Steve Norberg; and 11 nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Betty Thornton; brother, Gordon Thornton; and sister, Beth Norberg.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2007, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 490 Los Osos Valley Road, Los Osos, CA 93402.
