Elyria man recovering at home after being shot

LORAIN — An Elyria man is recovering at home after being shot in the side Sunday while sitting in a car in Lorain.
Rodolfo Arroyo, 23, was released from Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery.

Arroyo told police he was parked alongside the road at Pearl Avenue and East 30th Street just before 2 p.m. Sunday, when a black male walked by his car and started shooting at it with a handgun, a police report said.

Both gunshots entered the vehicle through the windshield, one of which struck Arroyo in his left side, the report said.

Arroyo then drove away in his car, a black Lincoln Continental, and headed toward CHP Regional Medical Center via East 28th Street and Broadway. Police cruisers that were headed to the shooting scene crossed paths with Arroyo’s vehicle at Broadway and Eighth Street, where officers noticed his car had two bullet holes in its windshield and was driving erratically, the report said.

LifeCare paramedics arrived at the scene and took Arroyo to CHP, and he later was flown to MetroHealth.

There have been no arrests.
