The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Robert D. Fenton, 78, of Lorain, formerly of Cleveland and Corry, Pa., passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Fenton was born November 6, 1928, in Corry, moving to Cleveland as a child. He returned to Corry,and attended Corry High School. He graduated from Admiral King High School in Lorain. He attended Bowling Green State University, Firelands Campus, in conjunction with an apprenticeship at the Ford Motor Co., and he earned a degree in mechanics.
Mr. Fenton was a WW II Army Air Corp veteran serving from March 5, 1946, to March 5, 1949, at Bowling Field in Washington D.C. as a photo lab technician. He was honorably discharged with rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Fenton began working at the age of 16 for the Thompson Aircraft Company in Euclid. Following his military service, Mr. Fenton went to work for National Tube Works, McKeesport, Pa., in the open hearth division. He then worked from 1950 to 1958 as a machinist for various companies including: General Electric, EW Bliss, Timken Roller Bearing and Babcock Printing Press.
From 1959 until his retirement as a millwright in 1991, Mr. Fenton worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain. During the 1970s, he taught classes in skilled trades for the apprentices of the U.S. Steel Corporation at Lorain County Community College.
Mr. Fenton was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Lorain Senior Fellowship Club, where he served as president in 1999-2000. He was also a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians, serving two terms as president of the Lakewood-West Shore unit.
Mr. Fenton is survived by his wife, Eileen R. (nee Simko) whom he married November 12, 1949. Other survivors include three daughters, Bonnie J. Foster of Phoenix, Ariz., Jonna H. Leaser of Apex, N.C., and Eileen M. Adams of Franklin; sons, Robert A. Fenton of Berlin Heights, and Mark T. Fenton of Spartansburg, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Vanderhoof of Wakeman; and brothers, Thomas of Merritt Island, Fla. and Charles of Corry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron Robert and Mary (nee Glatz) Fenton; brother, Paul Fenton; and sister, Agnes Lindsey.
Friends may call at Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Road, Avon, 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2007, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2007.
