The world may have the likes of India’s Taj Mahal and China’s Great Wall on its list of wondrous places, but you don’t have to go far to find several of your own.
After a new Seven Wonders of the World list was finalized in July to replace the one outdated by centuries, The Chronicle-Telegram sought local suggestions to pin down seven sites that make Lorain County unique.
Throughout August, readers sent in more than 100 suggestions and comments on what they thought should be included on the list.
After reading them, it’s easy to see what cements a landmark as special in readers’ minds — memories.
Whether playing in Elyria’s Cascade Park as a kid or going to see a movie at the Aut-O-Rama drive-in theater, something wondrous can be as simple as a place you can’t forget.
