The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Lilian F. “Lee” Bate, 86, a longtime Elyria resident, died Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Kemper House, Olmsted Falls.
She was born July 2, 1921 in London, England, where she served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces as a driver during WW II.
She moved to Elyria in 1955, and was a real estate agent with several local companies, and later became a real estate broker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Elyria, and was a former volunteer at the Elyria United Methodist Village, had been active with the Elyria Y. W. C. A. and was a former Cub Scout Den Mother.
Lee is survived by a son, Paul K. (Laurie) Bate of Elyria; daughter, Susan B. (Mark) Provenzale of Avon Lake; grandsons, Christopher and Cameron Bate of Elyria and Brendan Provenzale of Avon Lake.
Lee was the oldest of ten children of which five survived. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in 1981.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 15, 2007 from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. in the Parlor of First United Methodist Church, 312 Third Street, Elyria. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 A.M. in the Church Chapel. Rev. Roger Talbott will officiate.
Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harbinger Hospice, 1119 Bassett Rd., Westlake, OH 44145. Arrangements by Dicken Funeral Home, Elyria.
