The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Rosemarie R. Mendak (nee Casello), 70, of Lorain, died Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at Community Regional Medical Center in Lorain. She was born January 14, 1937 in Cleveland and had resided in Lorain since 1961.
Rosemarie was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Rocky River in 1957.
She worked as an executive secretary at ATT in Cleveland for 5 years.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township and the church Altar & Rosary Society.
Rosemarie taught herself how to play the piano and played for 12 years. She also played the accordion for a variety of polka bands in the area. She enjoyed ballet and tap.
Rosemarie was a member of the PTA at Palm & Whittier Schools and at Southview High School where she was also a parent Band Booster.
She enjoyed arts & crafts, listening to music and school and church activities.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Steve Mendak; son, Steven Charles Mendak of Elyria; daughter, Sandra Jeanne Wolf of Amherst; sons, Richard Francis Mendak of Elyria, Ronald Joseph Mendak of Sheffield Village and Robert Michael Mendak of Amherst; and daughter, Sharon Marie Fox of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren; sister, Barbara Jeanne Schroeder of North Olmsted; 15 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michaele Anne Mendak in infancy; and parents, Francesco & Rosalie Casello (nee Kaman).
The family will receive friends Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the St. Vincent Altar & Rosary Society will recite the rosary Thursday at 3 P.M. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 A.M. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria. The Rev. James Ols, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
