The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

William D. "Wild Bill" Rogala, 57, of Sheffield Lake, died on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Rae-Ann Nursing Facilities, Westlake, following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 18, 1950 in Lorain, where he has lived most of his life.
He was a 1970 graduate of Admiral King High School.
William was employed as a laborer for the Ford Motor Company, Lorain for 18 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain.
He was a member of both the Elyria and Lorain Polish Clubs, the Moose in Elyria, Amvets in both Lorain and Elyria, VFW and American Legion in both Elyria and Lorain.
He enjoyed race cars at the Speedway, fishing, visiting casinos, going to his clubs, watching basketball and football.
He is survived by his daughters, Sherri McElheny of Sheffield Lake, Tina Carver of Elkins, WV, and Vicki Ward of Friendly, WV; seven grandchildren; brothers, Edward Rogala of Vermilion, and Bob Rogala of Ravenna; sisters, Sandra Bohnert of North Ridgeville, and Elizabeth Simons, of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Velma Rogala (both in 1990); biological mother, Muriel (nee Denger) Rogala (in 1953); and sister, Phyllis Morris (in 1994).
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 7, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where a prayer service will be at 4 P.M. Rev. Fr. Ken Wolnowski, pastor of Catholic Church of St. Peter, will officiate.
