The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Albert E. Lauerhahs

Albert E. Lauerhahs, 78, of Valley City, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Life Care Center of Medina. Born in Cleveland, on June 1, 1929 to Peter and Josephine Lauerhahs. He grew up in Valley City and moved to Lorain County for many years, returning to his hometown when he retired.

Mr. Lauerhahs owned and operated Lauerhahs Custom Butchering in Belden, for 20 years.

He enjoyed farming and strongly supported the youth that belonged to 4-H Clubs and Future Farmers of America.

Mr. Lauerhahs was an active member of St. Martin of Tours, Valley City.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.

He is survived by his wife, Susan of Valley City; children, Linda (William) Miller of Columbus, Elizabeth (Michael) Canning of Medina, Janet Lauerhahs of Cleveland, John (Amber) Lauerhahs of Valley City, Tom Lauerhahs of Cleveland, Donna Lauerhahs (Eric Custis) of MD, Eric Bernard of Avon, Christopher Bernard of Cincinnati, and Melissa Bernard of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; sister, Erna (Edward) Mastney of Valley City; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores (1989); and his step-father, Rollie Law.

The Funeral Mass will be held today (Saturday) at 9:30 A.M. at St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Rd., Valley City. Rev. Thomas Dunphy will officiate. Burial will be at St. Martin Church Cemetery, Valley City. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the American Cancer Society, St. Herman’s House of Hospitality, Cleveland, OH or St. Martin of Tours Building Fund. Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City is handling arrangements.
