The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Shirley A. Parks

Shirley A. Parks, (nee Denn), 71, of Elyria, died on Tuesday,  September 11, 2007 at Center Ridge Health Campus in North Ridgeville, following a long illness.

Mrs. Parks was born in Elyria and lived here all of her life.  She was a trimmer at Worthington Ball for many years and also served as the office manager for Dr. Siat for several years. She was a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Mrs. Parks enjoyed traveling, movies and music.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin C. Parks, to whom she was married for 35 years; step-daughters, Sharon Yates of North Ridgeville and Connie Sue Hovey of Cincinnati; step-son, Kenneth Parks of New York City, NY; and three step-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Anna Marie Reinders of North Carolina and Lois Ann Reisinger of Elyria; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Victoria (nee Roka) Denn.

Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, on Thursday from 6 to 9 P.M.  Funeral Services will be on Friday at 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home followed by Mass at 11 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 320 Middle Avenue, Elyria, with the Reverend Father Edmund Goldbach officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Avenue, Elyria, OH 44035.
