Billie Jean White (nee Collins), 72, a resident of South Amherst, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Community Health Partners H & S Center in Lorain, following a sudden illness.
She was born May 30, 1935 in Logan County, WV, where she lived till 1955. She was a resident of Chapmanville, WV from 1992 to 2005 when she moved to South Amherst.
Billie loved and treasured her role as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was the light of her family’s lives and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, James L. White; son, Jimmy White of Brooklyn; daughters, Stephanie (Jerry) Kinder of Elyria, Kim (John) Green of South Amherst, and Tammy (Randy) Johnson of Parma; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert and Scott Collins, both of Chapmanville, WV; sisters, Nancy Vetterl of Grafton, Joyce Dowdy of Fayetteville, NC, Karen Artist and Penny Egnor, both of Chapmanville, WV; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Thelma Collins (nee Farley), and by her brothers, Jimmy and Marvin Collins.
Friends may call Friday, September 14, 2007 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 1 P.M. from the funeral home. The Rev. Harley Egnor, her brother-in-law and pastor of Cox’s Fork Freewill Baptist Church in Danville, WV, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
