The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Dorothy L. Myers (nee McAvena), 85, of Elyria, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a long illness. She was born June 16, 1922 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident.
Mrs. Myers was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Elyria and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church, and was a pet lover.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Eugene; daughters, Kathleen (Bill) Barney of LaGrange, and Rosemary Myers of Elyria; three grandchildren; sister, Patricia Browning of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Katherine McAvena; and a brother, Richard McAvena.
There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be Frdiay at 1 P.M. at St. Agnes Church, 611 Lake Ave., Elyria. Rev. Albert Krupp, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Memorial contributions can be made to the Erie Shores Humane Society, P.O. Box 1041, Elyria, OH 44036. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Elyria.
