The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Gary Lee Shamblin, 66, of Oberlin, died Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at his home following a long illness.
He was born July 15, 1941 in Nitro, WV. He had served in the U.S. Army and worked as a laborer.
Gary is survived by his wife, Doris Shamblin; sons, David F. Snyder of Tampa, FL, and Louis F. Snyder of Fairview Park; daughters, LouAnn Mayo of Wakeman, and Andrea Kalapos of AcWorth, GA; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herschel Johnson; and mother, Vivian Tribble.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 14, 2007 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Cowling Funeral Home, Oberlin. There will be no services.
