The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Lucille Marie Waldecki

Lucille Marie Waldecki (nee Attie), 86, a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was born February 25, 1921 in Amherst where she was raised and attended St. Joseph Catholic School. She was a lifetime resident of Amherst.

Lucille owned and operated the Amherst Dry Cleaners for 40 years, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst where was involved with the St. Joseph Golden Agers.

She was a member of the Oberlin Golf Club, the Syrian Lebanese Club in Lorain, the Lorain Altusa Club, the Amherst Democratic Women’s Club, and the women’s auxiliary of the Amherst American Legion Post #118, the Amherst Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1662, and the Amherst Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1442.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Earl of Amherst, Sheila Priestas of South Amherst, and Judy Kubasak of Lorain; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brothers, Paul Attie of Elyria, Walter Attie of Amherst, and Robert Attie of Lorain; her sisters, Cenerma Preston, and Marie Robinson, both of Amherst.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Joseph Anthony Waldecki on February 15, 1981; by her parents, Pedro and Anselma Attie; by her brother, Raphael Attie; and by her sisters, Eva Swartz and Esther Smink.

Friends may call Thursday, September 13, 2007 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Closing prayers will be held on Friday, September 14, 2007 at 12:30 P.M. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 12200 Fairhill Rd., Cleveland, OH 44120.
