The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

William Edward “Baldy” Grieve, Sr., 72, of Elyria, died Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at his home after a long illness. He was born September 21, 1934 in South Connellsville, PA and has lived in Elyria most of his life.
He worked as an assembler at Invacare many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the American Legion Post 12, Elyria. He was a longtime bowler and avid sports fan.
He is survived by wife of 49 years, Leah M. (nee Werner); daughters, Susan (Mike) Johnson of Lehigh Acres, FL; Julie Bowman of Elyria; son, William E. Jr. (Penny) of Elyria. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tony Leos, Leah Bowman, Kaylee and Sarah Grieve; sister, Wallis (Bill) Abahazi; nieces and nephews and stepmother, Hallie Grieve.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Grieve and mother, Wilma (nee Kurtz) Atfield.
There will be no visitation. A Service for the family will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Rd., Elyria, OH 44035. Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Elyria, handled arrangements.
