The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

John Lee Farley

John Lee Farley, 75,  and a resident of Lorain, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2007 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria following a 1½ year illness. He was born July 19, 1932 in Rachel, WV, where he was raised until entering the service.  He has been a resident of Lorain since 1953.

He served in the US Army with honor during the Korean War, receiving the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars and the US Service Medal.  He was employed with Fruehauf Trailer Co. and the American Ship Building Co., both in Lorain.  He retired in 1988 as a material handler after thirty years of service from the Lorain Plant of the Ford Motor Corp and was a member of Local #425.
John was a member of the Lorain Church of Christ.  He loved people, and enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, and working around his home and yard.

Survivors include his wife, of 54 years, Carol L. Farley (nee: Murphy); his daughter, Darlene K. (Dan) Suhy of Lorain; his granddaughter Rachel L. Suhy; his brothers, Richard W. (Pat) Farley of Lorain, Edward H. (Beulah) Farley of Amherst, Robert Farley of Rachel, WV and Charles Farley of Palm Coast, FL; his sister, Barbara Wasley of Oviedo, FL and Judith Patrick of Palm Coast, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter, in 1989, and Mary, Farley (nee: Webb) in 2004; and by his sister Betty Schwing in 1995.

Friends may call Thursday, September 20, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.  Funeral services will be held Friday, September 21, 2007 at 11 A.M. from Lorain Church of Christ, 5075 Toledo Rd., Lorain. The Evangelist Bob Eddy, pastor, will officiate.  The Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will perform honors. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Lorain Church of Christ, 5075 Toledo Rd., Lorain, OH 44055.
