The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Margaret Lois Kidd

Margaret Lois Kidd (nee: Neely), 71, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Grace Hospital, in Amherst, following a lengthy illness. She was born April 10, 1936 in Kentucky. She was raised in South Amherst and graduated from the South Amherst High School with the class of 1954. She has been a resident of Elyria since 1954.

She received her Bachelor of Arts and Masters Degree in Counseling from Kent State University. Margaret was employed with the Elyria School System for thirty years, serving as a teacher and counselor. She was a member of the Elyria Chapter #165 of the Eastern Stars, she served as past Worthy Matron and belonged to the division of Tri AMS Auxiliary.  She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in South Amherst. Her hobbies included reading, traveling, Cleveland sports, and she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughters, Lois Tate of Westlake and Pam Weiland of Amherst; her grandchildren, Brian Salata, Gwen and Jessica Salata, Joshua Weiland, William and Daniel Weiland; two great-grandchildren; her brothers Jimmy and Dickie Neely, both of KY; and her sisters, Ruby Kendrick of Elyria, Penny Simpson of Cincinnati, and Cindy Burdine of KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of 23 years, Warner Kidd on December 24, 1986; her granddaughter Heather Renee Salata; her great-grandson, Anthony Salata-Haskett; by her parents, George and Edna Neely (nee: Bray); by her infant brother, Nolan Pearl Neely; and her sister, Mary Helen Hembree.

Friends may call Tuesday, September 18, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, with an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 7 P.M. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 2 P.M. from the funeral home. The Rev. Farrell Keith will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
