Anthony J. Grzenda, 95, of Elyria, died Sunday, September 16, 2007 at Northridge Health Center in North Ridgeville following a brief illness. He was born August 8, 1912 in Dickson City, PA and was an Elyria resident since 1938.
Mr. Grzenda worked as a machinist at Ohio Screw Products in Elyria for many years, retiring in 1976. He served in the Army during WW II and also with the Merchant Marines.
He was a charter member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Elyria, was a charter member of the Elyria United Polish Club, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his daughter, Dr. Nancy Grzenda-Schuler of North Ridgeville; sons, Richard A. Grzenda of Olathe, KS, and Gerald A. Grzenda of Washington D.C.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence (nee Skok) in 1996; sisters, Alice Zuchinsky, Bernice Mihalko, and Agnes Mastro; and a brother, Joe Grzenda; and a grandson, Michael Grzenda.
Friends may call Wednesday, September 19, 2007 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Rd. at State Rt. 57, Elyria. Services will be Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home, followed by a 10 A.M. Mass at Holy Cross Church, 1417 West Ave., Elyria. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions can be made to the CHP Regional Foundation/New Life Hospice, 3700 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH 44053.
