The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Ann Chonko

Ann Chonko (nee Ilcisko), 86, of Lorain, died Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at Community Health Partners following a long illness.

She was born May 1, 1921, in Lorain and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Chonko was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Lorain.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping, and spending time with her family, especially at holidays.

Survivors include three daughters, Norma (Nick) Monaco of Amherst, Stephanie (Jim) Moran of Oberlin, and Gail (Rick) Kahnert of Amherst; son, Kenneth (Carrie) of Henrietta Township; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Norton of Amherst.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Steve (1995); parents, Demitrius and Julia Millie Ilcisko; and brothers, Mitro, Joseph, and John Ilcisko.

The family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Ave., Amherst, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.   Parastas Thursday at 7 P.M.  Panahida Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by funeral divine liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th St., Lorain. The Rev. Nicholas Rachford, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Memorials may be made to the Animal Protective League, 3303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035, or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 23297 Commerce Park, Cleveland, OH 44122, or the American Cancer Society, 43099 North Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
