ELYRIA — Ray Noble is a busy man these days.
Not only is the Republican running as a write-in candidate for Elyria mayor, but he’s also been named the chairman of the Elyria Republican Party.
Noble, who had been the vice chairman of the party until his predecessor David Graves resigned earlier this month, said he was elected unanimously to the job by his fellow Republicans on Saturday.
Noble is the first African-American to be named the head of a political party in Lorain County history, a feat he is proud of, he said.
He also said the new job gives him a better shot at defeating Elyria Mayor Bill Grace in November.
“It will help my chances,” he said.
