Janice M. Schlechter

Janice M. Schlechter, (nee-Simms), 65, of Elyria, died Saturday, September 22, at her home following a long illness.

She was born July 5, 1942, in Elyria and was a resident of Lorain County for most of her life.

She was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Amherst and also attended Zion United Methodist Church in Elyria.

She was a 1960 LaGrange High School graduate and attended Lorain County Community College.

Mrs. Schlechter was an office secretary for the Lorain Soil & Water Conservation District for 16 years. She retired in 2002.

Mrs. Schlechter also worked as a program assistant with the Lorain County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, she worked part time at the Lorain County Board of Mental Retardation, and was also a secretary at Whitehouse Artesian Springs in Elyria.

She enjoyed working on their family farm, gardening and reading

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September 29, 2007, at LaGrange United Methodist Church, 105 West Main St., LaGrange.

The Rev. Dick Kerchmar will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road at state Route 57, Elyria.
