The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Sheila Ann Davis, (nee Bedgood), 60, of Columbus, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at OSU Medical Center in Columbus.
She was born August 27, 1947, in Lorain. She attended Clearview High School and was a longtime resident of Lorain before moving to Columbus.
She was a member of New Covenant Believers Church in Columbus where she served on the Care Ministry Board.
She was employed by Franklin County Board of MRDD as a teacher’s aide, and Ohio Youth Advocate as a foster parent. She enjoyed church, traveling, her family, and beloved dog, Jeffrey.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Davis of Atlantic City, N.J., and Daryl Davis of Lorain; daughter, Dana M. Davis of Columbus; sister, Mae James of Lorain; brother, Kenny Wardell of Lancaster, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Waldien (nee Wardell) Bedgood; sister, Juanita Wardell; and brother, Melvin Wardell.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007, until noon services at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 865 Reid Ave., Lorain. Elder Tyrone Holley, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
