The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Lois Ann Dickinson Marshall

Lois Ann Dickinson Marshall, died unexpectedly at her home in Oberlin on Tuesday, September 25, 2007, where she had lived most of her life.

She was born on October 12, 1938 and attended Oberlin High School, graduating in 1956. Lois attended Ohio Wesleyan University, and graduated in 1960 with a degree in Psychology. Years later she earned a Master in Public Administration from Cleveland State University. Professionally she served as Director of the Family Service Association of Lorain County and Director of the Oberlin Early Childhood Center. Lois was a member of the Oberlin Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, serving on multiple committees and hosting many bed and breakfast guests. She was also an active member of the Family Service Council of Ohio, United Way, and the Family and Children’s Council for Lorain County.

Her hobbies and joys included spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, restoring the family home, taking walks, painting, reading all kinds of books and Sudoku.Lois, known by much of her family as Lad, is survived by her mother, Hazel D Bahret of Fort Myers, FL; her daughter, Beth Marshall and son-in-law, Anthony J. Wilgus, of Findlay; her son, Steven J. (Kathleen M.) Marshall of Downington, PA; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by three brothers, J. Frederick Dickinson of Englewood, FL, William J. Dickinson of Kansas City, MI and Robert A. Dickinson of Englewood, FL. Lois is also survived by her former husband, John Marshall of Trenton, MI.
Lois was preceded in death by her father, John F. Dickinson.

Calling hours are Wednesday, October 3, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.m. at Cowling Funeral Home, 228 S. Main St., Oberlin. Her memorial service will take place on Thursday, October 4, 2007 in Fairchild Chapel in Bosworth Hall at 50 W. Lorain St. in Oberlin at 7 P.M.

Memorial contributions may be sent in her name to the Oberlin Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at P.O. Box 354, Oberlin, OH 44074 or the charity of your choice.
