Brenda Carol “Penny” Mitchell, 57, of Elyria, died Sunday, September 30, 2007, at EMH Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
She was born April 16, 1950 in Millstone, Ky., and lived most of her life in Elyria. She was a 1968 graduate of Colonel White High School in Dayton.
She worked as manager and caregiver of Helping Hands Adult Foster Care Home in Elyria for more than 19 years. She enjoyed solving puzzles and going to Las Vegas.
She is survived by a son, William E. Mitchell of Elyria; daughter, Linda Jo Criteser of Killeen, Texas; sisters, Shirley Fagelsanger of Boynton Beach, Fla., Betty Kincer of Union, and Ginny Kuracka of Laura; brothers, William “Doe” Daniel of Dayton, Donnie Ray Daniel of Lewisburg, and Jesse Daniel of Brookville; granddaughter, Andrea Nicole Mitchell and longtime friend and caregiver Kim A. Wiggins of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Jerry E. Mitchell, in 2005; and parents, William G. and Reba L. (nee Burrows) Daniel.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 4, 2007, from 11:30 a.m. untill 1 p.m. services at at Meadowdale Baptist Church, 3686 Haney Road, Dayton. Pastors H. Dan Kincer and Rick Young will officiate and burial will be in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville.
