The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Frances “Nea” Taylor

Frances “Nea” Taylor, 75, of Elyria, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2007 in the Center Ridge Nursing Center of North Ridgeville, following a long illness. She was born in Chactaw County, AL, coming to Elyria 30 years ago from Long Island, N.Y.

She was employed at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, retiring after 27 years of loyal service and was once a Nanny in New York. She attended New Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Lorain.

She enjoyed watching Westerns and T.V., her Soap Stars, and was an avid collector of Doll Mansions.

She is survived by her sisters, Dessie Mae Moore and Luvenia Hollis both of Elyria, Mary Ann Evans of Lorain; brothers, James Tummer, Otis Alston all of Lorain, Peter Alston of AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawyer and Georgia Taylor; sisters, Maple Jackson, Rosie Capers, Elizabeth May, Jannie Bell Noble and Rose A. Johnson.

Friends may call Friday, October 5, 2007 from Noon until the time of Service at 1 P.M. in the Carter Funeral Homes Chapel 127 W. Bridge Street, Elyria, and also in the home of her sister, Luvenia Hollis, 560 Turner Street in Elyria. The Rev. Jeffery Capers, Pastor, of New Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church will officiate Services. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, to be announced at a later date and time.
