The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

John C. Schweda

John C. Schweda, 80, of Berea, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2007.

He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Rose; father of Thomas C. (Mary Ann) of Louisville, KY, Cynthia (James) of Kanappolis, NC, and Daniel J. of Strongsville; two grandsons and two great-grandchildren of Grand Junction, CO.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during World War II.

Berea City Council recognized John for donating more than 20 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross.

He was an avid fisherman having caught a trophy Walleye, Ely, MN, an artic grayling, Denali Park, AK, and a large mouth bass, Altoona, PA; and an avid golfer having made a hole-in-one twice.

Visitation will be Friday, October 5, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at Baker-Osinski-Kensinger Funeral Home, 206 Front St., Berea. Services will be Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary Church, 250 Kraft St., Berea. Interment will be at Woodvale Cemetery, Middleburg Heights.
