The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Roberta Elizabeth Blake (nee Krause), 60, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Haleakala National Park, HI, following a sudden accident. She was born June 15, 1947. Roberta was raised in Amherst and graduated from Marion L. Steele in Amherst. She was a lifetime resident of Amherst.
Roberta was employed as a Nurses Aid at Crystal Waters Assisted Living in Strongsville for four years and Abbewood Retirement Center in Elyria for three years. She also provided home health aid to those in need of therapy or hospice care. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. Roberta provided her home for exchange students from Hungary. She loved to care and help others.
Survivors include her son, David R. Blake of Lorain; sister, Ruth Penwell of Lorain; and niece, Jackie Penwell of CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Ronald Blake; and parents, Robert Antone and Angela Frances Catherine Krause (nee Schmitz).
Friends may call Friday, October 5, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 11 A.M. from the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
