Carl A. Thome, 88, of Elyria, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at his residence. He was born September 10, 1919 in Avon. Mr. Thome retired from Parker Hannifin in 1982, following 43 years of service, where he was a a machine setup man. He was a member of St. Agnes Church, and enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn (nee Brooks);  son, Carl A. Thome (wife Norma) of Huron; daughters, Edna M. Sipes (husband Charles) of UT, Janet L. Thome ( Joe Barber) of Davenport, FL, Jill A. Wozniak (husband Edward) of Bay Village; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;  brothers, Ambrose of Spencer, Raymond (Ruth) of Avon;  sister, Shirley McCafferty (Joseph) of Wellington.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters; Lawrence, Anthony, Joseph, Bernard, Colletta, Clarabelle, Marion, and Arlene.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday, October 5, 2007 at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home at Chestnut Ridge Rd. at State Rt. 57, Elyria. Closing prayers will be held at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, October 6, 2007 in the funeral home followed by a 10 A.M. Mass at St. Agnes Church, 611 Lake Ave., Elyria. Rev. Leo DeChant will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
