The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Martha S. Burrows (nee Larimer), 62, a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2007 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born May 16, 1945 in Buffalo, New York. Martha had made her home in Amherst for the last 40 years.
Martha was employed as a bookkeeper at Style Center in Lorain, Woolworth’s and the Lorain Waterworks.
A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, she served as an Eucharistic Minister for 19 years and was a Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, also for 19 years.
Martha enjoyed painting, garden tours and Tai-Chi.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Richard Burrows; son, Clayton R. Burrows of Sheffield Lake; daughter, Martina L. Bright of Wakeman; two grandchildren; and brother, Thomas Larimer of South Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas C. and Elizabeth Larimer (nee Bailey).
Friends may call Monday, October 8, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Closing prayers will be held Tuesday, October, 9, 2007 at 9:30 A.M. at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
