Maryann Fuchs (nee Gawura), 74, of Elyria, an angel to all who knew her, joined her parents, Dmitro and Ksenia Gawura in heaven on Thursday, October 4, 2007 from her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 11, 1932 in Elyria and has been a life long resident of the area.
She graduated from Elyria High School in 1950 and from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in 1984.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Elyria.
She was a Cub Scout den leader and a Girl Scout leader. Her hobbies and joys included spending time with her family, traveling, reading, music, and food.
She is survived by her husband, David, to whom she was married 48 years; sons, David and John Fuchs, both of Elyria; daughter, Mary Ann Mathes (husband Terry) of Avon; grandmother of Tyler and Katelyn Mathes; sister of Emily Macbeth of Denver, CO.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Gawura.
Friends may call 1 to 5 P.M. Sunday, October 7, 2007 at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home at Chestnut Ridge Rd. and State Rt. 57, Elyria. Closing prayers will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, October 8, 2007 in the funeral home followed by 11:30 A.M. Mass at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. Rev Charles Diedrick, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
