Norma Mae Horning

Norma Mae Horning (nee Becker), 76, a resident of LaGrange, passed away Friday, October 5, 2007 at her son’s home in LaGrange following a lengthy illness. She was born January 14, 1931 in Amherst. She was raised in South Amherst and lived most of her life in Oberlin before moving to LaGrange several months ago.

Norma was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oberlin. Her hobbies included playing cards, bingo, and triamino.

Survivors include her sons, James Horning and Rick Horning, both of Oberlin, and George Horning, of LaGrange; daughter, Norma Lyons, of Wellington; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Dohne of Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Horning, Jr. on January 14, 1952; parents, Edward and Marie Becker (nee Meitski); brothers, Robert Becker, James Becker, George Becker; and sister, Gladys Rucker.

Friends may call Monday, October 8, 2007 from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2007, 11 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 115 Central Dr., Amherst. Rev. Terrance Adamson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
