The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Delano LaWayne Woods, Sr., 68, of Elyria, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at his home, following a long illness. Mr. Woods was born February 19, 1939 in Elyria, to Oscar and Beulah Woods. He attended Elyria High School and was a lifelong resident of Elyria.
He was a member of Greater Christ Temple in Elyria.
He worked at Bendix-Westinghouse in Elyria for 16 years before retiring. He had previously worked at the Lorain Ford Plant and also worked as a caddy at the Elyria Country Club. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after four years of service.
He enjoyed golf, motorcycles, traveling and cooking.
He is survived by his children, Shawn Woods and Sonya Woods, both of Mansfield, Tammy Woods of Washington, D.C., and Delano L. Woods, Jr. of Los Angeles CA; brothers, Charles Woods of AZ, Oscar Woods, Clinto Woods, and Ronald Woods, all of Lorain, and Raymond Woods of OK; sisters, Ethelia Bryant of Elyria and Beverly Bennett of Lorain; and a host of grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar L. and Beulah (nee Stephens) Woods, Sr.; brothers, Clayton Woods, Eartha Wendell Woods, and Adelbert Woods; and sister, Gladys Hickman.
Services will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 12 Noon at Greater Christ Temple, 123 Oberlin Road, Elyria. Elder Jesse. L. Matthews, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
