The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Joyce C. Doehne (nee Becker), 71, of Elyria left this world on Saturday, October 6, 2007 to spend eternal life with God in Heaven. She was born July 17, 1936 in South Amherst and spent the last 47 years in Elyria. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her time with her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Doehne was a living angel to all those who knew her.
Mrs. Doehne was a graduate of South Amherst High School. She earned her Associates of Fine Arts Degree from Lorain County Community College in 1994 at the age of 58.
She worked at the Elyria License Bureau and was a secretary at the Elyria Telephone Company. She was a self-employed cake decorator for 20 years. Mrs. Doehne retired from Lorain County Human Services in 1993.
Mrs. Doehne was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Elyria where she served as Lecturer and Eucharistic Minister. She taught PSR for 25 years, and was a member of the church bereavement choir.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Doehne was a member of the Lorain County Community College Civic Chorale. She earned her Master Gardener Certificate from Ohio State University and was a volunteer for the Lorain County Agricultural Center’s Help Line.
Mrs. Doehne was an avid gardener and enjoyed photography, archery, crocheting, and knitting.
Mrs. Doehne is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edward; sons, Matthew of Hudson, John of Carlisle Township, Thomas (Michelle) of Avon, and Edward (Tara) of Elyria; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a twin brother, James Becker, Robert Becker, George Becker; sisters, Gladys Rucker and Norma Horning; and parents, Edward and Marie (nee Meitski) Becker.
Friends may call Wednesday, October 10, 2007 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 P.M. at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road at State Route 57, Elyria.
Services will be Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home, followed by Mass at 10 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria.
The Rev. Charles Diedrick, Pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
