The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

William E. Watson, 80, of Elyria and Miami FL, died Saturday September 22 2007, at Miami Jewish Home and Hospital in Miami, FL. He was born August 10, 1927 in Elyria, where he was a 1945 graduate of Elyria High School. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force and was stationed on Guam from 1945 to 1947.
His field of work was display advertising and he was employed at J.C. Penney Company in Elyria and O’Neils at Sheffield Shopping Center. He then was employed by Florsheim Shoes in Southern Florida for 30 years retiring in 1992. He was an accomplished oil painting artist and his work had been displayed locally and in Southern Florida.
He was a member of Erie Shores Art League in Sheffield Lake and Allied Arts of North Miami.
William was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Penfound in 1999; father, William W. Watson in 1946; and mother, Maria Watson in 1987.
A Graveside Service will be Wednesday, October 10 2007, at 11:30 A.M. at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Elyria.
The Rev. Dr. Peter Mealwitz will officiate. Dicken Funeral Home, Elyria, is in charge of arrangements.
