Homes in Lorain neighborhood burglarized

LORAIN — A string of homes and vehicles was burglarized over the weekend in Deerfield Estates.

Lorain police went to a home on the 6000 block of Kyra Lane Sunday morning in reference to someone entering a home through the rear sliding glass door overnight and found reports of similar thefts and attempts from other neighbors.

The Kyra Lane homeowner told police she awoke at 8 a.m. only to find the contents of a wallet scattered around the kitchen table and the rear screen door open. The homeowner told police that several of her credit cards also were missing.

From neighbors, police learned that a Lincoln Navigator was broken into next door, and an XM Satellite Radio, an AT&T cell phone, $400 in cash and hundreds of dollars worth of Mona Vie Energy Drink were taken.

The radio and most of the boxes containing the energy drinks were found in a neighbor’s backyard, and a lone energy drink container was dusted for fingerprints and taken into evidence.

Some other neighbors along the 6100 block also reported that attempts to pry open their homes’ windows had been made. In some cases, the burglars tried to pop out the window screens with what appeared to be a screwdriver, according to police.

Two more vehicles along the 6000 block of White Tail were stripped of their radar detectors, which were later found with the radio and energy drink boxes, police said.
