Carlisle Twp. cleanup this weekend

CARLISLE TWP. — It’s time for fall cleanup weekend, and Dumpsters and recycling facilities will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday behind the Carlisle Township Town Hall & Building Department at 11969 LaGrange Road.

Acceptable items are appliances, including refrigerators and freezers, used motor oil, automotive batteries, tires off the rims, furniture, metal items, concrete, fluorescent bulbs, computer components, ink cartridges and other items that cannot go in normal trash pickup.

No garbage will be accepted, and no other hazardous waste products will be accepted.

Do not bring any paints, solvents, pool chemicals or any other household hazardous waste products.

The wood waste recycling area will be open for tree branches, small stumps, bushes, clean pallets, packing crates and used lumber. No treated wood, railroad ties, drywall, plywood, OSB board or painted wood will be accepted at the wood waste pile, but those items can be placed in the Dumpsters.

Wellington cleanup set for Saturday

WELLINGTON — Village and Wellington Township officials are providing a fall cleanup day for residents on Saturday at Wellington Township Garage at 105 Maple St.

Dumpsters will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

No hazardous or infectious waste will be accepted. Other items that will not be accepted include storage batteries, Freon appliances, brush, waste oil, bricks, rocks or concrete, dirt or any materials prohibited by state or federal law from being placed in landfills.

No tires will be accepted.

Senior citizens may call if they need assistance with drop-off, and you can get refreshments during the pickup hours. Free recycling items also will be available.

For other recycling:

Fluorescent bulb and ballast recycling is the second Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the county maintenance warehouse, 25 East Ave., Elyria, and electronics recycling day is held in the summer. The information line for both services is (800) 449-5463.

The nearest paper recycling drop-off container is at Westwood Elementary at 3305 Union St., Wellington, and residents of both communities are encouraged to use blue bag curbside service.
