William “Bill” Bailey

William "Bill" Bailey, a native of Wakeman, died in Mobile, AL, on August 29, 2007 at the age of 91. Mr. Bailey was a very active member of the communities of Wakeman and Norwalk during his lifetime. He served on the school board, was a volunteer fire fighter in both Ohio and Alabama, a member of the Wakeman Lodge of the Freemasons of Ohio, active with the Boy Scouts, active with the Wakeman Redcaps Baseball Team, an avid card player, and an accomplished dancer, being a member of numerous dance clubs.
He retired from Harshaw Chemical (Englehard) as a management supervisor. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy. One might refer to him as an amateur historian due to his extensive travels and knowledge of the United States and Canada. His love of travel eventually brought him and his wife, Mary Louise to retirement on the Gulf Coast of Alabama.
Mr. Bailey was a former member of the Congregational Church of Wakeman, and a member of Warrington Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL. Bill will be missed, loved, and kept alive in the hearts and souls of all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Harold (Debbie) Bailey, Bellevue, Gary (Barbara) Bailey, Mobile, AL, Lynn (Jolene) Bailey, Yorba Linda, CA, and William (Vivian) Bailey, Lebanon, OR;  grandchildren, Brad Bailey, Los Angeles, CA, Kent (Rosalie) Santa Ana, CA, Harold Bailey, Jr., Bellevue, Hannalore Bailey, Destin, FL, Robert (Leigh) Bailey, Mobile, AL; Bonnie Bailey, Tracy, CA, William A. Bailey, Hayward, CA,  Brenda M. Bailey, Sacramento, CA, and Rebecca J. Bailey, Hayward, CA;  great-grandchildren, Hayden Bailey, Mobile, AL, Christian and Lilliana Bailey, Santa Ana, CA; Caitlin Bailey, Madeline Bailey, Zachary Bailey, and Gabriella Bailey of Louisburg, KS. Surviving sisters are Dolly Bringman, Westminster, MD and Barbara (Ross) Baird, Wakeman.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his wife of 50 plus years, Mary Louise Bailey; son, Robert Bailey; grandson, Brian Bailey; brother, Bryant  "Buster" Bailey; and his parents, Clarence (C.T.) Bailey and Bessie Bailey.
A Memorial Service and Burial for Mr. Bailey is planned for Friday, October 19, 2007 at 11 A.M. in the Wakeman Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman.
