Margaret P. “Peggy” Neal, (nee Painter), 87, of Lorain, died Friday October 12, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, in Avon, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Neal was born in Paintertown, PA on April 3, 1920. She moved to Lorain County in the early 1950’s and was a long-time resident of Elyria.
She was employed as an administrative assistant for the American Standard Company (predecessor of Tappan Industries) of Elyria. In 1976 Peggy relocated to Lehigh Acres, FL. She was employed there as a foster grandparent for the Lehigh Acres Public School System. She returned to Lorain County in 2006.
Mrs. Neal was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, as well as a member of the American Legion Post # 12 Auxiliary of Elyria, and the Lehigh Acres Independent Business Women’s Association. In her free time she enjoyed reading and dancing.
Survivors include her son, Jeff Neal of Lorain; granddaughters, Tara and Sara Neal; great-grandson, Anthony Carpenter; companion, George Richards of Cape Coral, FL; and sisters, Betty Jean Dimaio of Cocoa Beach, FL and Nancy Pointz of Cochoranton, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Harriet (nee Poundstone) Painter; and by brothers, Alvin and Ralph Painter.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 P.M. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1 P.M. in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon, Pa with the Reverend Russell Martin presiding.
