The 16-year-old son of a Wellington preacher was charged Monday in the shooting death of his mother and for critically injuring his father.

Daniel Petric sat expressionless as county Domestic Relations Magistrate Stephen Blake read off the charges of murder and attempted murder.

Sheriff’s Capt. Rich Resendez said Daniel shot his mom, 43-year-old Sue Petric, once in the head and arm and shot his father, Rev. Mark Petric, 45, once in the face Saturday night.

Resendez has refused to comment on a motive, but said there were an increasing number of arguments between Daniel and his parents in the weeks leading up to the shooting.

Mark Petric, who preaches at New Life Assembly of God in Wellington, remains in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
