Police charge man in online sex sting

AVON — Avon police have charged a 40-year-old man who allegedly believed he was meeting up with a 15-year-old girl for sex.

Charles T. Milhous Jr., 40, of Garfield Heights, was charged with importuning, attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and possession of criminal tools after police said he solicited sex online from someone who he thought was a girl.

The girl, however, was Avon police Officer Larry Miller, who has been working to catch online predators since March 2005. Milhous was picked up about 11 p.m. Saturday without incident after arriving at the designated meeting place in Avon.

The arrest is Miller’s 24th Internet bust and his second for Avon police. Miller left his post with Vermilion police last year. Milhous posted his $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear for his arraignment today in Avon Lake Municipal Court.
