LORAIN — A 13-year-old female student told police a teacher inappropriately touched her at The Arts Academy in Lorain, and two other female students have alleged the same teacher poked them in the breasts with his pen.
The mother of the 13-year-old called police Oct. 18 after school officials said the complaint she’d made to school officials would be handled in house.
In that alleged incident, the 13-year-old told police that she backed away from a bee during a fire drill on Oct. 16 and backed into the hands of a 58-year-old male teacher. The teacher, she alleged, put his hands on her hips and “gyrated’’ his hips, rubbing his genitals against her rear, according to the police report.
She told police at least six other students saw what had happened. A day later, Academy Dean Ronald Street called police, saying two other 13-year-olds at the school had alleged that the same teacher had pointed out stains on their shirts by poking them in the breasts with his pen.
The teacher, hired a month ago after undergoing a background check, was placed on administrative leave pending the completion of the investigation.
The Arts Academy is an open-enrollment public charter school attended by 276 students in kindergarten through ninth grade.
Street did not return phone calls seeking comment Tuesday.
