Flavie W. Jackson, 95, of Grafton, died Friday, October 19, 2007 at Northridge Health Center in North Ridgeville following a brief illness.
He was born August 11, 1912 in Braxton County, West Virginia and lived in Grafton since coming from Cleveland Heights in 1985.
Mr. Jackson worked as the head custodian for the East Cleveland school district for 20 years, retiring in 1983. He and his father worked as timber contractors for 30 years in West Virginia.
He enjoyed working on electronics, country and gospel music and played in a band in West Virginia.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Virginia (nee Dennison); sons, Roger Jackson of Oberlin, Ronald Jackson of Farmdale, and Gary Jackson of Euclid; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Jackson; and sisters, Daisy Burnett and Tacy Dennison.
Friends may call Sunday, October 28, 2007 from 2 to 4 P.M. at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Rd. at State Route 57, Elyria. Services will be Monday, October 29, 2007 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Steve Hammond, pastor of Peace Community Church in Oberlin will officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
