ELYRIA — A bumpy, off-road chase ended around early Thursday morning behind a Riverside Court garage, according to an Elyria police report.
Tremayne Wallace, 20, of Elyria, was charged with failure to comply with a lawful police order, obstruction of official business and several traffic violations.
Police saw Wallace’s Buick Skylark swerving on Broad Street and pursued him when he ran a stop sign, the report said.
They followed as he drove through a Cambridge Avenue yard and fields behind EMH Regional Medical Center and McKinley Elementary School, the report said.
When Wallace slid down an incline in the wet grass and ran into a fire hydrant on East River Road, he jumped out of the car and fled on foot, the report said.
With the help of police dog Stuka, Wallace was arrested on Riverside and taken to the police station.
