The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Gale A. Gooding, 83, of Grafton, died Saturday, October 27, 2007, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a long illness.
He was born September 1, 1924, in Geneva, and was a resident of Middlefield for most of his life.
Mr. Gooding was an Army Air Corps veteran.
He worked in sales for the Goodmorr Rubber Co.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1079 in Elyria.
He enjoyed golfing, gardening, traveling and bowling.
Survivors include his daughters, Pamalyn Withers of Ocala, Fla., Pat Gooding of Atlanta, and Nancy Gooding of Grafton; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Morris of Wildomar, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (nee Odell); a brother, John A. Gooding; and his parents, Max and Ruth (nee Brand) Gooding.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road at state Route 57, Elyria.
