Boy, 15, still critical after ATV accident

AVON – A 15-year-old boy remained in critical condition Tuesday night after he was injured in an ATV accident last week.

Police are not saying how the accident occurred.

The accident happened about 6:15 p.m. Thursday. Police said Brandon Gates was the driver of an ATV traveling on Stonefield Place near Deerfield Drive in the Fields of Avon subdivision. At some point, the teen lost control of the ATV, causing it to roll on top of him. Police received several 911 calls just after the accident.

Avon police Lt. Keith Haag said the teen was seriously injured in the accident. He was taken to Avon Emergency Care Center before being flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland with a head injury.

Police are still investigating the accident.
