Karen E. Shannon (nee Cole), 67, of Elyria, and formerly of Bozwell, Pa., passed away along with her husband, Larry R. Shannon Sr. on Monday, November 5, 2007, as the result of an auto accident in Jenners Township, Pa.
She was born July 31, 1940, in Somerset County, Pa., and moved to Ohio in 1959.
Karen was primarily a homemaker and over the years had worked at a variety of jobs outside the home. She was a member of the Women`s Retiree group with UAW Local 425 in Lorain.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, music, playing bingo and traveling. She and Larry traveled to Ireland this past summer and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her six children; son, Larry R. Shannon Jr. (wife, Rose); daughter, Erin Hall (husband, Rick) of Lorain; daughter, Trisha Kinsman of Comstock Park, Pa.; son, Michael Shannon of Killeen, Texas; daughter, Kathy Canalos (husband, David) of Sandusky; daughter, Tammy McKinney (husband, Daniel) of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry R. Shannon Sr.; brother, James M. Cole; and parents, Milton and Mabel Cole (nee Blough).
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2007, at Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second St., Elyria.
A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2007, at the funeral home. Barbara Habecker will serve as celebrant.
