Sheriff`s deputies were called at 7:23 p.m. Monday to the Fuel Stop at 430 Oberlin-Elyria Road, Carlisle Township, after a gun-wielding man robbed the gas station that sits in front of ValueCity, according to reports.
After a similar holdup at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Subway on North Ridge Road in Elyria Township, a clerk who is 36 weeks pregnant was taken to the hospital for precautionary treatment, sheriff`s Capt. Richard Resendez said.
Resendez said the suspect in the Subway robbery is a light-skinned man of medium build and about 5-feet, 7-inches tall.
He was wearing a black cloth over his face, and he had a semi-automatic pistol, Resendez said.
As for the Fuel Stop robbery, a description of the suspect wasn`t available Wednesday night.
Already, police in Amherst, Lorain and Sheffield Lake were looking at possible links between robberies that had occurred in their jurisdictions.
In all of them, the suspects were men and many of the robberies involved semi-automatic weapons, according to reports.
Resendez said he will meet with detectives from those cities and others to compare cases and suspects.
“There always seems to be a cluster when these things happen. We have to figure out if there`s one thing they have in common,” he said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about these robberies or others to call the Amherst police at (440) 988-2625; Lorain police at (440) 204-2100; or Sheffield Lake police at (440) 949-7131.
