ELYRIA – Two men charged in connection with the beating of a black teenager pleaded not guilty Thursday at their arraignment in county Common Pleas Court.
Kenneth Tackett II, 18, and James Machovina, 21, are both charged with felonious assault and assault for the September attack on Travis Noble, a 17-year-old Elyria High School student.
The pair allegedly used a racial slur as they rode past Noble on bicycles. Noble gave chase and was beaten by the two men, according to police.
Noble was hospitalized for four days with a broken jaw that had to be surgically repaired. He also had a split lip that needed 14 stitches to close.
