Woman thrown from LCT seat files suit

ELYRIA – An Elyria woman who was thrown from a folding seat on a Lorain County Transit bus two years ago is suing LCT and the county for injuries she sustained when she fell.

Mary Layton filed the lawsuit Thursday in county Common Pleas Court demanding more than $25,000 in damages.

According to the lawsuit, Layton was riding on the seat on Nov. 15, 2005, when the bus took a fast turn at Third Street and East River Street in Elyria. The seat snapped back into its folded position, tossing Layton to the floor, the lawsuit said.

Layton`s injuries to her back, hips, tailbone and knees have left her with headaches and an improper gait, “achiness all over,” limitations to her motion, depression, sleeplessness and other injuries to her mind and body, the lawsuit said.
